Commercial

Farcaster is open-core. Everything needed to self-host, run, and secure the gateway — the catalog, routing and proxy, MCP-native transport, auth and per-tenant credential isolation, and the x402 payment gate — is OSS and free. The Commercial managed tier picks up where the open-core line is drawn: at moving money and at running Farcaster across many tenants from one place. Settlement & collection

The OSS gateway verifies an x402 payment authorization before forwarding a call. Actually collecting that payment on-chain — settling the authorization and moving the funds — is the managed tier, including a hosted facilitator so you don’t have to run and fund the /settle server yourself. (You can also self-host a facilitator entirely on OSS — see Self-hosting vs managed; the managed facilitator is the convenience, not a gate on the capability.)

Usage & revenue metering

A metering dashboard over your gateway’s invocation and payment activity — usage and revenue by agent, tenant, and time — with usage-based billing on top of it. This is the finance-team surface: the raw invocation and payment records are available to OSS via the API, but the aggregated dashboard and billing live in the managed tier.

Multi-tenant control plane

A centralized control plane to manage and govern many Farcaster tenants from one place — the operational convenience for running Farcaster at fleet scale, rather than administering each instance on its own.
